Draft work demonstrates the newf's natural instinct as a working dog. The Newfoundland dog and handler show teamwork as they participate in land work involving hauling.

Two types of titles can be obtained in Draft, Individual Division Draft Dog (DD) and Team Division Team Draft Dog (TDD). As in the water test, there are a series of exercises that the dog and handler must pass in order to achieve these titles. The DD includes basic control; harnessing, hitching & equipment check; maneuvering course & basic commands; freight load; distance freight haul; and intriguing distraction.

The TDD involves the same exercises, except the handler works with a team of 2 or more dogs.
